Embracing the Joy of Work and Travel: Supporting My Daughter at an Irish Dance Competition

Life often presents us with beautiful, unexpected opportunities that remind us how fortunate we are. Today I had the chance to support my daughter as she prepared for an Irish dance competition and still be able to work on growing my business and supporting our clients.   We left home at 4 AM on July 1st to travel to Dallas, TX for the North American Irish Dance Championships.  There are lots of jobs for a “feis dad” as we’re called, the most important being to carry lots of bags, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.   The ability to work remotely allowed me to be there for her, and I couldn’t be happier.

**Balancing Work and Passion**

Working remotely has become a game-changer for many, including myself. It offers the flexibility to maintain professional responsibilities while being present for the significant moments in our personal lives. My daughter’s dedication to Irish dance is truly inspiring, and being able to witness her hard work and enthusiasm firsthand is a privilege. With my laptop and a reliable internet connection, I can fulfill my work duties and cheer her on.

**Exploring New Horizons**

Traveling for my daughter’s competition also gave me the chance to explore a new place. The competition is at the Gaylord Texan right outside of Dallas, TX.   Each city has its unique charm, but sadly, the 100 plus temperatures made  us much less likely to explore local attractions and soak in the vibrant Texas culture.  I am making sure to get some good Tex-Mex and BBQ though!  It’s amazing how traveling can refresh our minds and provide new perspectives, which ultimately enhances productivity and creativity in our work.

**The Power of Support**

Supporting my daughter in her passion for Irish dance is incredibly rewarding. Her excitement and determination are contagious, and it’s a reminder of the importance of nurturing our loved ones’ dreams. Being there to support her, whether she wins or not, shows her that her efforts are valued and that I believe in her. This kind of support is invaluable and strengthens our bond.

**Gratitude and Reflection**

As I reflect on this experience, I am filled with gratitude. The ability to work while traveling to support my daughter is a testament to the incredible opportunities modern technology provides. It’s a reminder to cherish these moments, to be present, and to appreciate the balance between professional and personal life.
