Alaska Reimbursement For Telehealth
New Developments in Alaska Telemedicine procedures as of June, 2016
2016 Law removes Alaska's previous in-state presence requirements for prescribing Via Telemedicine. In addition, it authorizes the use of Telemedicine in more clinical practices. These include licensed auidologists, speech language pathologists, counselors, marriage and family therapists, Psychologists, social workers, physical therapists and occupational therapists.
At the same time, Alaska passed a parity law requiring insurance plans to cover telemental health services the same as in person. The law also removed the requirement for a prior in person visit between the provider and the patient.
